A Transformative Week with Fern and Maxim in Playa Chiquita

“We wanted to get married in a setting that allowed us to focus on our love and union.

The hosts, Fern and Maxim, presented themselves and their program clearly at each meeting. We could tell we were in good hands from the start and would get the type of experience we sought.

Fern and Maxim were very hands-on, providing instructional workshops, adventures, and experiences we will never forget.

We came seeking connection, clarity, and grounding and what we received was beyond anything we could have imagined.
Fern and Maxim don’t simply host a couples retreat: they create a sanctuary. A space where love is nurtured, hearts open, and healing flows naturally. From the very beginning, their energy made us feel held, supported, and understood. It felt like arriving home, but to a home we'd never known existed until then.

Throughout the week, Fern and Maxim guided us through an incredibly thoughtful journey that included couples breathing techniques, cacao ceremonies (ceremonial cacao is delicious and deeply heart-opening), music, and sacred practices that brought me and Kittie closer than ever. These weren’t just “activities,” they were soulful experiences, masterfully led, and always offered with kindness and a spirit of deep wisdom.
Every element of the retreat felt intentional. The rhythm of each day allowed for both structured practices and free time to absorb, reflect, and simply be. The locations they chose in Limon were absolutely stunning. Each location was lush, peaceful, and connected to nature in a way that made everything feel more alive, more real.

The pinnacle of our week, however, was our wedding ceremony. Fern and Maxim planned and officiated the most beautiful, meaningful, and ceremonial experience we could have dreamed of. Words truly fall short here. They held sacred space with such grace and presence that it felt like time itself paused to witness our union. Their music added another layer of magic to the moment, touching our hearts with the kind of authenticity that can’t be staged or rehearsed. It was intimate, raw, and completely perfect.

We chose this retreat instead of a traditional wedding because we wanted to enter marriage not just with celebration, but with intention. We wanted to start this new chapter already having done the work to realign, reconnect, and recommit to each other from a place of inner peace and understanding. And thanks to Fern and Maxim, that’s exactly what we did.

Their guidance helped us find a place in each other’s hearts we didn’t know existed, not just in the poetic sense, but in the real, vulnerable, human way that sometimes gets lost in the busyness of everyday life. We left Limon with new tools, renewed love, and a deeper appreciation for each other as individuals and as partners.

"I felt surrounded by music, care, and support. I worked with Fern to create a custom agenda that included a couple of body/mind therapies each day, plus three personal ceremonies. The therapies ranged from massage and breathwork, to sound, reiki, Ayurvedic treatments, kundalini, kirtan, dance, and more. I would be alone, but entirely cared for, which meant even more headspace for letting go. It's also a rare relief to be carried as an adult, and that is how I felt.
